Daily Deviation

Given 2009-02-22
"~asetix's Monazite Canyons is an excellent display of beautifully crisp scenery with an engulfing otherworldly environment. A lovely synthesis of 3-dimensional artwork synergised with a painterly touch." Words by suggester. ( Suggested by cosmicbound and Featured by joannastar )

Beautifully expansive work that is deserving of the attention that it has garnered and the Daily Deviation that it received.

Something like this makes me want to kick myself for not having anything good to say!
So I'll just say that this looks too real to not be a photo!
(Seriously, are you sure that this isn't one??)

I think the sharpness fits it nicely! It makes the details stand out so well, and it is a nice contrast to the soft skies :)

I thought this was a photo at first! The details are amazing, and great sky!

The details are excellent but the sky doesn't suit this landscape and for some reason it looks far too sharp, to the point where the intricate details have been reduced to pixel noise. In this type of scene there'd be plenty of dust in the air so you'd have pronounced and more consistent fogging effects, low saturation and softening of details; it wouldn't have so much contrast.

This is Terragen at its finest, I love how you combined the details and landscape capabilities and used PS to make it into something that is half painting, half photo. Turner would be impressed with this.

Even though you got a DD, I'm still sad that you didn't receive too much feedback. The work is incredible. It is appealing to the human eye. Like someone said in here, the sharpening ruins it partly. Could reupload with less sharpening and perhaps overlay the sharp over the original. Use two-three overlay though.

The scenery is otherwise very nice, but IMO the oversharpening pretty much ruins it.
